Finance professor honored with Outstanding Paper award

Assistant Professor Thibaut G. Morillon received an Emerald Literati Outstanding Paper Award for "Dissecting the Stock to Flow Model for Bitcoin" published in Studies in Economics and Finance.

An Elon University faculty member has been recognized for the second time in three years for his scholarship in finance and cryptocurrency.

Assistant Professor Thibaut G. Morillon received a 2023 Emerald Literati Outstanding Paper Award for “Dissecting the Stock to Flow Model for Bitcoin”, a paper he-coauthored last year in Studies in Economics and Finance.

The paper, written with Ryan G. Chacon of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, examined that the most popular pricing model among Bitcoin enthusiasts.

Morillon received a Literati award in 2021 for “Do Merger and Acquisitions Affect Information Asymmetry in the Banking Sector” published in Managerial Finance.

Since joining the Department of Finance faculty in 2019, Morillon has been prolific in both his scholarship and service to the school, with recent recognition as the recipient of a 2022 Love School of Business Dean’s Award for Excellence in Scholarship.

Morillon is a former financial advisor at LCL Bank. His scholarly interests include mergers and acquisitions, blockchain/cryptocurrencies, international finance, corporate governance, and real estate. He today serves as advisor and mentor to the Elon Blockchain Club and as an Honors Thesis Committee Member, among other service roles at the university.
