Make It Five! Elon Women’s Cross Country wins fifth-straight CAA title

The team has won the CAA title each year since 2019.

The Elon women’s cross country team placed five runners among the top 12 finishers, winning the CAA Championship for the fifth consecutive year on Friday morning at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Virginia.

Elon finished with 36 points and had a 19-point advantage over runner-up Stony Brook University. Northeastern University was third with 78 points, followed by William & Mary with 98 points.

Jette Beermann was Elon’s top finisher, earning a bronze with a time of 21:11. Leandra Lorenz was right behind in 21:16.6. Katie Blount was seventh, Maggie Springer 10th and Hattie Reynolds 12th. Elon’s depth proved to be too much for the rest of the CAA to overcome as the Phoenix’s fifth runner finished the course six seconds faster than any other team’s fourth runner.

Elon has won every CAA Women’s Cross Country title since first taking the title in 2019. In fact, Elon’s program (including women’s cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field) has now won the last nine CAA championship meets.
