Department of Performing Arts presents ‘Spring Awakening’

Performances of the fall musical production of the Tony Award-winning rock musical based on the play by Frank Wedekind continue this week.

Catch the Tony Award-winning rock musical that tells the story of a group of young students discovering their sexuality and struggling to find their place in a repressive society. Set in 19th-century Germany, the show explores themes of adolescence, identity and the consequences of ignorance and shame. Featuring a contemporary score and a raw and honest portrayal of teenage life, Spring Awakening is a powerful and thought-provoking production that has resonated with audiences worldwide.

Spring Awakening features book and lyrics by Steven Sater, music by Duncan Sheik and is based the play by Frank Wedekind. Remaining performances of the production in McCrary Theater take place this week:

  • Friday, Nov. 3, 7:30 p.m. 
  • Saturday, Nov. 4, 7:30 p.m.
