Students pack Schar Center to cheer on Phoenix for Education Day

Thousands of students from Alamance-Burlington School System packed Schar Center to cheer on — very loudly — the Elon women’s basketball team against Northeastern University on Friday, Feb. 2.

Along with offering a chance to cheer on the Phoenix in a close battle against the Huskies, the day served as an opportunity for students to be introduced to the university and learn more about the importance of education and going to college. Along with the competition, students enjoyed the antics of the ZOOperstars!, inflatable characters who brought synchronized dance routines, acrobatics, tricks and comedy for an amazing performance in Schar Center.

“Today was an exciting day to have our community of students in Schar Center. The gym was electrifying with lots of energy. Education Day is always something special for us as we believe in the importance of education and the power of education. We hope they enjoyed their time here today and we hope to have them back,” said head coach Charlotte Smith.
