The Hon. Carrie Vickery L’09 was honored by the Triad business Journal for her professional achievements, leadership and community involvement in its annual recognition of women in business.
Noting her commitment to service and justice within her community, the Triad Business Journal recognized The Hon. Carrie Vickery L’09 in its annual “Outstanding Women in Business” list.
Vickery, now serving her third term as a North Carolina District Court Judge for Winston-Salem and surrounding communities, was named among 25 influential Triad women in the journal’s special edition.
In 2016, Vickery became the first Elon Law alum to be elected or appointed judge at the District Court or higher.
Her community work and service to civic and professional organizations like the bar association and Junior League led to regional prominence beginning early in her career with Holton Law Firm.
The Business Journal cited those efforts among others, as well as volunteerism at community agencies, in its selection of Vickery for the list. The journal also noted her N.C. State Bar certification as a specialist in family law — a distinction that allows her to train attorneys and judges statewide — among her professional accomplishments. She was first elected as a District Court Judge in Forsyth County in 2016, and won re-election in 2020 and 2024.
Vickery remains actively engaged with Elon Law, mentoring the next generation of legal professionals. Most recently, she served as a judge for the 15th Billings, Exum & Frye National Moot Court Competition, hosted by Elon Law in October 2024. The annual event brings together teams from law schools across the country to argue complex constitutional issues.
