Held from June 24 to August 11 across more than 30 locations nationwide, Summer Welcome Events help incoming students and their families connect with each other and build early ties to the Elon community.
Elon University’s Summer Welcome Events return this season to offer a warm and engaging introduction for members of the incoming Class of 2029 and their families. Coordinated by the Office of Parent Engagement, these informal gatherings are scheduled from June 24 through August 11, just ahead of the start of the academic year.
Hosted by current Elon families and their students, the events will take place in more than 30 cities across the United States, spanning from Seattle, Washington to Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Designed to build early connections within the Elon community, the events provide new students and their families the opportunity to meet peers from their region, ask questions and gather helpful information prior to Move-In Day.
The host families, most often parents of rising sophomores, juniors and seniors, share personal experiences and practical advice to help incoming families navigate the transition to college life. Many events will also include representatives from Elon’s Office of Admissions and University Advancement, who will offer insights into academic programs, student life, and available campus resources.
These gatherings serve as a valuable first step in the Elon journey, creating opportunities for connection and shared understanding before students arrive on campus. Through meaningful dialogue and community-building, Summer Welcome Events provide important support during the transition to university life.
