Awards banquet honors exemplary faculty and staff

Four faculty members were honored May 11, 2011, for superior scholarship, teaching, mentoring and service at Elon University’s faculty-staff awards luncheon. Those recognized included Mary Jo Festle, Ann J. Cahill, Maureen Vandermaas-Peeler and Stephen Bailey.
Students to participate in the 2011 SURE Program

The 2011 Summer Undergraduate Research Experience begins on May 31. Fifty students were accepted into the program from nearly 70 applications. This year’s SURE program is the largest and most competitive in the history of the program.

SEM 227 class donates $2,000 to local organizations

The Sport and Event Management 227 class donated a total of $2,000 from two spring semester class events. Class members split into groups to organize the "Bite'N Bid" pasta dinner/silent auction in support of Allied Churches of Alamance County, and the "Frosty Frolic" race in support of the Children's Home Society of North Carolina.
Elon named to presidential honor roll for service for fifth time

Elon University has been recognized for the fifth year in a row as a national leader in service-learning and civic engagement. The Corporation for National & Community Service named the university this week to the 2010 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for service efforts to America's communities
Human Service Studies faculty, alum publish in AIDS Care

Associate professor Cindy Fair and assistant professor Kristen Sullivan in the Department of Human Service Studies, along with Amy Gatto '09, have published an article in AIDS Care titled "Indicators of transition success for youth living with HIV: perspectives of pediatric and adult infectious disease care providers."
