Dave Parker, Mike Kingston, Amanda Chunco and Ryan Brandt attended the academy's meeting at Winston-Salem State University on April 5-6.

Kingston presented the findings of a 25-year retrospective study examining the impact of two different pedagogical approaches on student engagement and learning in a field-based ecology course at the 118th annual meeting of the North Carolina Academy of Science on March 19.

The members of the North Carolina Academy of Science voted to elect Michael Kingston, professor of biology and environmental studies, to serve as president-elect in 2021-22 and President in 2022-2023.

This March 23 oral presentation by the professor of biology and environmental studies communicated the results of a five-year study examining the role of fish predators in preventing the establishment and spread of the invasive light bulb tunicate on submerged hard surfaces at the Duke University Marine Laboratory in Beaufort, N.C.

Dr. Michael Kingston, Professor of Biology and Environmental Studies, presented his latest research examining the role of fish predators and an invasive subtropical sea squirt on the marine invertebrate community that occupies submersed pilings, piers, and boat hulls.

Dr. Michael Kingston, professor of biology and environmental studies, was elected to the position of President-Elect at the North Carolina Academy of Science's 109th annual meeting at Campbell University on March 23-25. He will serve as the Academy's President during the 2013-2014 academic year.
