With Gibson’s upcoming retirement, the School of Communications says goodbye to the university’s first full-time communications professor and a key figure in the development of the communications program.

Led by Matt Cotton ’18, approximately 40 Elon students volunteered at the conference championship tournament held in Greensboro Feb. 28 through March 4.

Eric Hernandez ’16 served as an associate producer on “Colorado Experience: Galloping Goose,” an award-winning episode of a TV series produced by Rocky Mountain PBS.

The Town of Elon recently granted the university's request to activate the scrolling news ticker on the south end of McEwen Communications Building, facing Citrone Plaza on Williamson Avenue.

Elon’s student-run radio station hosted a two-day celebration that included a panel discussion, featuring several former WSOE general managers, and a dinner with a keynote from Tom Mullen ’00, vice president of marketing catalog at Atlantic Records. Additionally, Assistant Professor Gerald Gibson was recognized with an Award of Excellence for his years of mentorship.

As part of the 2018 Coca-Cola and Regal Films student film competition, Elon students traveled to Atlanta in late January to produce a 35-second film, which is now available to watch online. And don’t forget to vote for Elon’s commercial in the Fan Favorite Award contest.

Seventy high school seniors interested in studying communications and sport management visited during Fellows Weekend held March 2-3. Following a competitive selection process, 30 students will be named 2018 Communications Fellows.

Reza Sayah, Rachel Oswald and Tom Hundley will host a 7 p.m. talk in the screening room (Room 013) of McEwen Communications Building.

During his Feb. 28 visit to campus, Gennesseaux spent several hours with Elon students sharing advice on motion-picture photography and providing insights on the film industry.
