The assistant professor of sport management co-led an October presentation titled “Developing Leadership Capacity of College Students During Divisive Times.”

The student-run news organization was honored with eight awards, including four first-place finishes, and several School of Communications graduates were recognized for their professional journalism efforts.

Faculty and staff members presented sessions and hosted a sponsorship table at a Dallas convention that drew more than 4,000 attendees. 

The assistant professor of communications teamed with fellow faculty member Ryan Witt and three cinema and television arts majors to produce “Gull,” a short-subject film that won Best Editing at the 2017 Free Spirit Film Festival in Dharamsala, India.

Hal Vincent, Live Oak’s faculty director, wrote a chapter spotlighting the co-curricular organization now celebrating its 10th year in operation.

The Houston Chronicle retail reporter, formerly a transportation reporter for the San Antonio Express-News, authored an in-depth article on a failed toll road plan, bringing to light “the pitfalls of privatized infrastructure.”   

The New York City-based documentary editor was recognized prior to a Nov. 9 screening of “Food Chains,” a 2014 film she edited that highlights agricultural labor in the United States.

The Greensboro native and national news correspondent made stops in five classes on Nov. 8 and participated in an hour-long chat with members of Elon News Network.

Assistant Professor Denise Hill and Adjunct Instructor Lorraine Ahearn received honorable mention awards in the 2017 Margaret A. Blanchard Doctoral Dissertation Prize competition.
