Several Elon University graduates were recognized in the North Carolina Press Association’s 2016 News, Editorial and Photojournalism Contest, the centerpiece of the association’s annual Winter Institute.

In addition to receiving a service award at the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association’s annual event, the assistant professor of sport and event management hosted a preconference workshop and presented an educational session.

Molly Bauer ’19 and Heather Deiner ’19, accompanied by Associate Professor Amanda Sturgill, traveled to the University of Oklahoma March 3-4 to present their respective research topics.

Seventy-five high school seniors interested in studying communications visited Elon University during Fellows Weekend, held March 3-4. Following a competitive selection process, 25 students will be named 2017 Communications Fellows.

The veteran reporter will lead a Feb. 27 presentation highlighting his most recent investigation into the most important yet most overlooked commodity in the world: sand.

The Pendulum and Colonnades won Best of Show awards, while several students were honored for their reporting, design, photography and writing.

Student media leaders from across the state attended professional sessions, many of which were led by Elon faculty and staff.

Following his top finish in the association’s 2016 Monthly News Clip Contest, the Greensboro News & Record photojournalist was named the Southeast Regional News Photographer of the Year.

The assistant professor of communications recently published articles in the Asian Journal of Communication and the Journalism & Mass Communication Educator.
