Elon University graduate students received first- and third-place awards in this year's Broadcast Education Association's Festival of Media Arts.

Students from the School of Communications and Interactive Media master’s program were recognized in this year's Broadcast Education Association's Festival of Media Arts, capturing several top accolades. They will be honored at the association's annual conference April 22-25 in Las Vegas.

Lillian Engel ’19 and Azzurra Catucci ’18 received $15,000 to produce a 35-second film that illustrates the emotions of the moviegoing experience.

Led by Associate Professor Julie Lellis, nine students in the “Mindful America, Mindful Elon” course traveled to Massachusetts during Winter Term to study how mindfulness is practiced and then bring those experiences back to campus.

The assistant professor of communications delivered a colloquium talk at UNLV’s Center for Gaming Research, exploring the unknown stories of Las Vegas’s history and how press releases contributed to the growth of the gaming industry.

During a three-week Winter Term course, titled “Business of Baseball and Tourism in the Dominican Republic,” two dozen students examined issues relating to neo-colonialism and globalization while traveling in the Caribbean nation.

The Elon University yearbook staff invited Jen Bladen, a professional consultant, to campus on Feb. 4 to discuss design principles, publication trends and marketing strategies.  

The assistant professor of communications was invited to evaluate entries in the third annual Budapest International Documentary Festival in Hungary.
