Glenda Phillips Hightower, the first African-American to enroll as a full-time Elon student, and Eugene Perry '69, the first African-American to receive an Elon degree, will have formal portraits unveiled during a McKinnon Hall event.

The honorees are alumni from the past decade who have achieved major professional success, serve as difference-makers in their communities, and loyally support Elon as partners, advocates and investors.

Bia Jurema ’15, a School of Communications alumna, directed, shot and edited a video currently playing on the arena’s LED screens during NBA games and concerts.

Laith al-Majali '05 is part of a team that has earned the nation of Jordan its first ever Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.

Assistant Professor Buffie Longmire-Avital and young alumna Brenda Reavis '15 have co-authored an article in a forthcoming edition of the Journal of Black Psychology examining the ideal and non-negotiable characteristics emerging adult Black American women look for in potential male partners. 

Elon University School of Law has created the Elon Law Legal Incubator to support Elon Law graduates who wish to develop solo law practices and to create opportunities for lawyers to provide reduced-cost legal services for low-income residents of Guilford County.

Elon Law alumnus Grant Buckner L’13 is the Supreme Court of North Carolina’s first Director of the Office of Central Staff, a new office created by the Administrative Office of the Courts to increase the efficiency of the Supreme Court in adjudicating cases.
