Communications assistant professor Sang Nam received a $40,000 community-based participatory research grant to study health care access among Korean Americans in the Triad.

Dan Evans, assistant professor of physics, received $25,000 from NASA: Chandra X-ray Observatory Center for The First Spatially Resolved Spectrum of an AGN Outflow in an Early Type Galaxy: A Deep HETG Observation of MRK 3.

Darris Means, associate director of Elon Academy, received $19,891 from North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (NCICU) for Successful Transitions: Supporting Underrepresented Students to Succeed in High School, College and in Life.

Communications assistant professor Sang Nam took home fifth place at the Korean National Writing Competition.

Dr. Michael Kingston, professor of biology and environmental studies, was elected to the position of President-Elect at the North Carolina Academy of Science's 109th annual meeting at Campbell University on March 23-25. He will serve as the Academy's President during the 2013-2014 academic year.
