The following message was delivered Sunday, March 29, 2015, to the campus community from Elon University Provost Steven House.

Elon services and programs in downtown Burlington, N.C., have boosted the local economy over the past three years by an estimated $8.1 million, earning an award this month from the North Carolina Department of Commerce.

A distinguished educator and administrator with a deep conviction for the power of engaged learning, Elon's associate provost for academic affairs will assume a top leadership position at the South Carolina school starting this summer.

Sophie Adamson, associate professor of French and chair of the Department of World Languages and Cultures, spoke at the spring meeting of the American Association of Teachers of French.

In a News & Observer op-ed, Elon Law Professor Catherine Ross Dunham examines California gender bias case Pao v. Kleiner and a recent U.S. Supreme Court case to illustrate the limits of current law in addressing questions of equal treatment and opportunity in the workplace.

The longtime School of Education faculty member served Elon in retirement as its official university decorator. The Elon Medallion recipient, whose career included time as a school teacher and principal, witnessed firsthand pivotal moments in North Carolina history.
