Housing Works, a nonprofit organization that is working to end AIDS and homelessness, dubbed Britten GInsburg Pund '06 a 2010 "Renegade to Celebrate" in its annual list of "AIDS Heroes and Villains."

Belk Library added a rare volume to its archives this fall when an Elon alumna donated to the university a copy of the first land survey ever completed in England, today considered one of the most important documents of the medieval era.

Jack Staley '83 has been promoted to supervisor of field operations for the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission's Division of Law Enforcement. Staley will oversee more than 200 officers in District 5, which includes Alamance, Rockingham, Orange, Granville, Durham, Person, Caswell, Randolph, Chatham, Lee and Guilford Counties.

Though the United States was ultimately not selected to be a host for the 2018 or 2022 World Cup, it can't be said that Elon alumni didn't do their part to bring the international soccer tournament to America. Thirty-nine candidates in Elon University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program received their degrees on Dec. 12, 2010, in an afternoon ceremony that featured an address from the creator of Evidence in Motion, a highly regarded education and business practice consultation company within the physical therapy profession.

The Elon University Board of Trustees voted Oct. 22 to designate a 56-acre undeveloped tract north of University Drive as the Elon University Forest, a dedicated land preserve and natural area. The action protects the largest remaining intact forest in the Town of Elon and safeguards thousands of species of plants, animals and other organisms.
