School of Communications

This semester’s edition marks the 17th in the history of the Elon Journal, the nation’s first and only undergraduate research journal in communications.

The School of Communications live-event production organization, which partners with Elon Athletics, was recognized in the contest’s Outstanding Live Game Production (Collegiate Student) category.

At the annual Faculty/Staff Awards Luncheon on May 9, the Elon community honored 12 faculty members who are retiring this year.

Jeff Elliott, executive associate commissioner and chief financial officer of the Atlantic Coast Conference, spoke on May 8 with Assistant Professor Young Do Kim’s Sport Finance class.

The challenge, which began in November with an idea pitch, culminated in April with three teams presenting ventures to a panel of judges.

Paul LeBlanc ’18, who was awarded a Pulitzer Center Student Fellowship, published an April 30 article titled “In Belmarsh Prison: Radicalization or De-radicalization?”

Elon alumna Jackie Sapio ’10, coordinator of community initiatives for the Philadelphia Phillies, provided a keynote address at the awards ceremony, highlighting her professional path and sharing words of wisdom with the soon-to-be graduates.

During the three-day NFL draft held April 26-28, Carrigan Bain ’19 served as an intern for the Washington Redskins, working with the franchise’s communications department to promote the team’s recently acquired players.

The April 30 event included a keynote address from Tyler Key, general manager of IMG College, three panel discussions featuring more than a dozen industry professionals, and a network reception.
