Brooke Barnett, an associate professor in the School of Communications, and Hannah Williams '10, a journalism and professional writing major and Lumen Scholar, had a column published in the July 11 Greensboro News and Record.

Nneka Enurah didn't spend her July 4 holiday like most people out in Los Angeles. She didn't make her way to one of the dozens of fireworks displays or partake in a cookout. She really didn't celebrate at all. Instead, she hung back at her internship with the Fox Broadcasting Corporation, shadowing the vice president of sports in the studio.

Students in the Elon in Los Angeles program have been running a simulated production company, dubbed "Climbing the LAdder," for the last three summers. In year one, only a production class was offered. Last year, an acting course was added, and the company began to expand and take shape.

The Millennial generation is leading society into a new world of personal disclosure and information-sharing using new media, according to a recent survey of technology experts. They said the communications patterns “digital natives” have already embraced through their use of technology tools will carry forward even as Millennials age, form families, and move up the economic ladder. They added that new social norms and etiquette are being formed as a result.
