Kara Goldin, named one of Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Entrepreneurs, will speak to students about managing the risks and rewards of entrepreneurial endeavors.

Research projects authored by Assistant Professors Elena Kennedy, Sean McMahon, Mark Mallon and Matthew Perrigino were shared during the annual meeting for management and organization scholars.

The challenge, which began in November with an idea pitch, culminated in April with three teams presenting ventures to a panel of judges.

The WE Do! Women Entrepreneurs for the Greater Good event was hosted by the Doherty Center for Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. 

Interdisciplinary student teams will present their ventures, competing for a monetary prize.

The conference, hosted by the Doherty Center for Creativity, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, is dedicated to empowering women entrepreneurs.

A Silicon Valley pioneer and investor, Mitch Kapor was presented with the medal at an April 12 ceremony at the Koury Business Center. 

The Doherty Center for Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship is organizing the trip for those interested the movement to use business “as a force for good.”

The Love Award for Excellence in Business Leadership provided the senior with an opportunity to pursue a research project focusing on the role venture capital networks play in determining a startup’s success.

Kapor, an entrepreneur, technologist, investor and social advocate, will be presented with the Elon University Medal for Entrepreneurial Leadership on April 12 at 5 p.m. in the LaRose Digital Theatre.
