Elon’s celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month will conclude on Friday with the ninth annual Gala Latina, an event featuring Hispanic food, music, and a celebration of Latinx achievement.

For Edward Hernandez ’27, legacy is rooted in family, heritage and community. From leading LHU and El Centro to mentoring future scholars, his Elon journey reflects the power of giving back and the importance of celebrating Hispanic and Latinx voices.

From investigating illegal shark fishing in Costa Rica to mentoring scholars in the Odyssey Program and celebrating Hispanic heritage, Lilliana Molina ’27 is making her Elon journey one of impact and connection.

Celebrations such as the First-Generation Stole Ceremony, Celebremos!: Graduates Take Flight, Donning of the Kente, and Lavender Graduation highlighted the achievements of students who embraced, and were embraced by, communities of support throughout their college experience.

The graduating students reflected on identity, resilience and community at “¡Celebremos!: Graduates Take Flight” celebration.

The School of Communications graduate serves as an immigration reporter at PolitiFact, digging deep in topical subjects, translating complex issues into digestible stories, and making sure that facts are, indeed, facts.
