The class runs Aug. 28 through Sept. 20 and meets Sundays from 2-6 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-10 p.m.

This year's 53 students participating in the Summer Undergraduate Research Experiences program presented mid-summer progress in their work on July 22.

The professor of music had two articles published in the professional saxophone journal.

Virginia Novine Whittaker, lecturer in music, presented a master class entitled, "Developing Your Unique Sound and Style: Targeted Concepts for Young Jazz Saxophonists" to an audience of music students, performers and teachers at the Jazzit Festival in Italy.

The assistant dean of global education and associate professor of music and education was an invited panelist for jazz education.
