The Elon University Social Justice Social was an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to connect for meaningful conversations and community.

The Department of World Languages and Cultures, in collaboration with Sigma Delta Pi Honor Society and Global Neighborhood, hosted Lula Carballo, a Canadian author whose family migrated to Canada from Uruguay, and Émilie Guerette, a Canadian documentary filmmaker.

Karunatilaka’s “The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida” won the 2022 Booker Prize. He discussed his works with Assistant Professor of English Dinidu Karunanayake in Turner Theatre.

A new campus garden, planned for completion this fall, will embody peace and justice at Elon University.

The event was held Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Snow Camp Outdoor Theater and involved students, faculty and staff scanning and digitizing local historical artifacts.

The mathematics and statistics students got the unique opportunity to interact with experts in other fields for their research.

Jessica Gisclair, Brian Pennington, Will Pluer and Stacey Thomas have embarked on the program, which helps faculty build expertise in leadership education and integrate it into a coming class.
