The annual service opportunities will take place closer to campus this year, with students invited to work with community organizations in programs taking place March 19-21.

Campus Compact has named Anna Gillespie '24 a recipient of a Newman Civic Fellowship, which recognizes and supports community-oriented students and is named for Frank Newman, a founder of Campus Compact.

The award recognizes the partnership between the club and Elon, which stretches back at least three decades and has expanded and evolved to include volunteerism, academic service-learning courses, internship and practicum placements, research, fundraising and advocacy.

In a year when volunteering efforts have been hampered by COVID-19 and social distancing requirements, Elon Physical Plant has helped Habitat for Humanity continue to provide affordable homes to Alamance County families in need.

The American Red Cross and Elon’s Kernodle Center for Civic Life hosted the January Blood Drive on Wednesday, Jan. 20, to collect blood donations in a time when the Red Cross desperately needs them.

Six Elon faculty from a variety of departments discussed the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol during “Reacting to the Insurrection at the Capitol,” a virtual panel discussion broadcast live to the Elon community on Jan. 15.
