Elon students use Spring Break for service projects

Dozens of Elon University students are taking part in Alternative Break service trips this month to destinations across the United States, the Caribbean and in France. The programs were organized by the Kernodle Center for Service Learning and Community Engagement, the Truitt Center for Religious & Spiritual Life, and the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business.

Elon Poll: Economy taking toll on Alamance County

The economy trumps all other issues facing Alamance County, with the effects of a prolonged downturn impacting the social, health and behavioral well being of its residents, according to the latest Elon University Poll. Poll director Hunter Bacot joined with leaders from the United Way of Alamance County and from Healthy Alamance on Tuesday to share findings in a midday news conference from campus.

Elon leaders formally open Campus Kitchen

Campus Kitchen at Elon University, a community program to serve meals to those in need in Alamance County, opened for the first time on Tuesday when top university leaders prepared lasagna dishes during a special College Coffee in the 1889 Grill Room.

Campus events to celebrate life of Martin Luther King Jr. – Jan. 11-17

The Multicultural Center will host its annual celebration of the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a series of events that run Jan. 11-17, 2011. The events commemorate the spirit of diversity and honor the sacrifices and current work of many for inclusion and equality.
