Elon Law’s Donning of the Kente ceremony on the eve of Commencement for the Class of 2020 was the first to be hosted in a virtual format as graduates active in the Black Law Students Association and their families celebrated the significance of their achievement.

“One does one's best work where one is really engaged and committed.” Dean Emeritus George R. Johnson, Jr. praised Elon Law students and graduates while reflecting on his contributions to legal education in a video conversation recorded weeks before his passing. 

A towering figure in the North Carolina legal community, Dean Emeritus and Professor of Law George R. Johnson, Jr., who shepherded Elon Law through its first accreditation process with the American Bar Association, died November 15 following a lengthy illness.

A group of Elon Law faculty, staff and students is sharing on a monthly basis what members are reading and watching as part of a desire to engage in important discussions on topics related to race and history.

Students performed original works on October 15, 2020, during the second annual “High Rhymes & Misdemeanors” Poetry Slam hosted by Elon Law’s Legal Method & Communication Program.
