Chad Awtrey, assistant professor of mathematics, presented a research talk on Galois theory and p-adic numbers at the Southeastern Sectional Meeting of the American Mathematical Society at Wake Forest University on Sept. 24, 2011.

A $1.2 million grant from the National Science Foundation will bolster the number of math and science teachers Elon University graduates in the years ahead through a partnership with the Alamance-Burlington School System.

Statistics major Keyona Osborne ’12 also attended the symposium.

Alan Russell, an associate professor of mathematics, and Amanda Ketner, a senior mathematics major with teaching licensure, presented at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics 2011 Annual Meeting held in Indianapolis, Ind., from April 10-16.

Mathematics professor Jeff Clark attended the annual meeting of the Southeastern Section of the Mathematical Association of America held in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on April 1 and 2.
