Physician Assistant Studies - Elon

The Jan. 2 article provided an overview that the innovative program is having on the education of students in the School of Health Sciences. 

Elon’s School of Health Sciences welcomed two new classes of graduate students to the university community this week.   

Students in Elon's Physician Assistant Studies program and staff from the Alamance Open Door Clinic participated in a design thinking sprint on Tuesday, Dec. 5, to address two questions related to quality improvement and patient adherence.

The White Coat Ceremony marks the start of intensive clinical learning experiences for the 38 members of the program's Class of 2019.

The School of Health Sciences hosted its second interprofessional education session on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017. The event included students from the Elon Physician Assistant, Elon Physical Therapy and Alamance Community College Nursing programs. 

The annual Department of Physician Assistant Studies symposium focused on medical improvisation, design thinking and empathy. 

Elon’s Physician Assistant Studies program was well represented at the 2017 National Physician Assistant Education Association Forum held Oct. 25-28 in Denver, Colorado. 

In its third year, the fundraiser led by the Elon Physician Assistant Student Society supports the work of Open Door Clinic of Alamance County, which provides free health care to local residents that cannot afford to pay.

Elon PA Students participated in a service-learning project at Garrett Elementary School in Mebane, N.C., on Sept. 29, 2017. 

Three area lawmakers toured the program’s facilities in the Gerald L. Francis Center and learned more about the role these future providers play in the health care industry.
