More than 100 Elon alumni and parents from the Washington, D.C. area joined President Leo M. Lambert for a regional launch of Ever Elon: The Campaign for the Future of Our University on Nov. 19.

About 150 Elon alumni and parents celebrated the launch of the Ever Elon: The Campaign for the Future of Our University at a kickoff event in Boston Nov. 13.

Elon seniors Ivy Crank, John Planisek, Lindsay Clement and Chase Rumley have been selected to join Teach for America, a highly selective program that recruits recent top college graduates and working professionals to commit two years to teach in low-income communities across the country. They were among 5,857 applicants in the first of four recruiting periods for the program’s 2009-10 academic year.

A dozen leaders from a collection of student groups attended a Nov. 19 Leadership for Lunch program in the Moseley Center where the Center for Leadership held a workshop on the role of balance in achieving a healthy life.

Elon University remains the nation’s top-ranked master’s-level university for study abroad programs in the 2008 Open Doors report by the Institute of International Education.

From protecting the environment to working with young children, 14 sophomores in the Social Entrepreneurship Scholars Program this semester are learning the challenges – and joys – of organizing programs for local agencies. And they hope to share their lessons with the next cohort of scholars selected from applications now being accepted.
