The university's top award comes with $20,000 to support and celebrate academic and creative achievements. 

Ten alumni who graduated in the past 10 years were recognized with the Top 10 Under 10 Alumni Awards on April 14 for their professional success, service as difference-makers in their communities and loyal support of Elon.

Overman's co-authors on the peer-reviewed research articles include two current Elon students as well as collaborators from Penn State University and North Carolina A&T State University.

Duckworth, a University of Pennsylvania professor, co-founder of the Character Lab and 2013 MacArthur Fellow headlined Elon's annual Spring Convocation on April 5. She's the best-selling author of "Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance."

Seniors Rachel Cockrell and Sarah Carpenter recently presented at the 19 annual meeting of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology in Atlanta.

The $34,000 grant is from the Colonial Academic Alliance, which seeks to link the colleges and universities that make up the Colonial Athletic Association.
