Joe Bruno ’14, Brandon Marshall ’12, Sophie Nielsen-Kolding ’12, Nick Ochsner '11 and Christine Williams '14 will be among the honorees recognized at the 33rd Midsouth Regional Emmy Awards ceremony in February.

The student-run news organization was honored with six awards, including four first-place finishes, and two School of Communications graduates were recognized for their professional journalism efforts.

A group of nearly two dozen School of Communications students received a behind-the-scenes look at the operations of the NHL organization and its arena.

The Atlantic Records executive was lauded for his “entrepreneurial passion and pursuit” at a Nov. 2 luncheon held during Elon University’s Homecoming weekend.

Homecoming weekend brought nine School of Communications graduates back to campus to participate in a live panel discussion, providing current students with advice on how to use their Elon experiences to enhance their careers.

Elon’s student news organization won several organizational and individual honors at a national college media conference held in Louisville, Kentucky.

The Elon University alumnus oversaw the production of a full-length film titled “Virginia 12th,” which follows the story of Chris Hurst, a one-time news anchor who was thrust into national headlines when his girlfriend and colleague were murdered during a live news broadcast. The 64-minute documentary charts Hurst’s journey as he campaigns for political office.

The freelance photojournalist based in Washington, D.C., presented a lecture in a class offered by The Institute of Politics at the Harvard Kennedy School.

During the two-day trip, 29 students visited with communications professionals and Elon University alumni, receiving a behind-the-scenes look at the operations of several prominent organizations, including CNN, Jackson Spalding and the Atlanta Falcons.

Trey Caldwell G’18 collaborated with Gardy Swengbe G’18 and Assistant Professor Doug Kass on separate video projects and both were screened at the metro Atlanta festival in October.
