During the two-day trip, 29 students visited with communications professionals and Elon University alumni, receiving a behind-the-scenes look at the operations of several prominent organizations, including CNN, Jackson Spalding and the Atlanta Falcons.

Elon alumnae Alexis de Groot ’17 and Sydney Brown ’18 partnered with faculty members Tony Weaver and Eric Hall to conduct a qualitative study and collect in-depth information on the perception of social support provided to student-athletes rehabilitating injuries.

Seventeen members and guests of the School of Communications Advisory Board visited campus on Sept. 28 to discuss their professional industries, share their expertise, and speak with eight classes.

The school supports two residential learning communities including the new Sport Management & Media Living Learning Community in Sloan Hall.

The senior sport management major, who plays on Elon’s women’s lacrosse team, is working as a ticket and fan services intern for the NFL franchise.

More than 50 Elon undergraduates were joined by several from other colleges and universities participated this summer in SURE, one of Elon's signature undergraduate research opportunities. 

Jeff Elliott, executive associate commissioner and chief financial officer of the Atlantic Coast Conference, spoke on May 8 with Assistant Professor Young Do Kim’s Sport Finance class.

Elon alumna Jackie Sapio ’10, coordinator of community initiatives for the Philadelphia Phillies, provided a keynote address at the awards ceremony, highlighting her professional path and sharing words of wisdom with the soon-to-be graduates.

During the three-day NFL draft held April 26-28, Carrigan Bain ’19 served as an intern for the Washington Redskins, working with the franchise’s communications department to promote the team’s recently acquired players.

The April 30 event included a keynote address from Tyler Key, general manager of IMG College, three panel discussions featuring more than a dozen industry professionals, and a network reception.
