Nearly two-dozen Elon University students traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina, for a March 15 conference to hear from marketing professionals and industry leaders. 

Max Herrera traveled home to San Mateo, Calif., for Elon University’s “Fake Break” this winter to volunteer on the sustainability team with the Super Bowl Host Committee.

The chair of the Sport and Event Management Department participated in a question-and-answer interview examining topics relating to the National Football League’s championship game.

During Elon University’s Thanksgiving break, members of the baseball team traveled to the Dominican Republic to study the Caribbean nation’s culture, economy and affinity for baseball as part of the “Globalization in Contemporary Sport” class.

The sport and event management class hosted a fundraising event benefiting Helping Other People Eat – or H.O.P.E. – a nonprofit organization fighting hunger in Alamance County.

Assistant Professors Cara McFadden and Craig Schmitt and junior Abigail Dalton traveled to South Carolina to share their research and expertise with the collegiate recreational sports organization and its conference attendees.

The Sport and Event Management Department hosted its fall 2015 Project Palooza, showcasing student work conducted during the semester.

Carol Pyszkowski’s capstone project, supported by the Premier Sport and Event Society, provided more than 40 Elon University students an inside look into the professional sports and arena management industries.

Associate Professor Hal Walker, chair of the university's Department of Sport and Event Management, called Weaver "highly deserving" of recognition from the North Carolina Sport Management Coalition.

During the annual NCAAHPERD-SM Convention, sport and event management majors Taylor Barclay ’15 and Kelly Siewers ’17 received undergraduate scholarships, Sophie Kane ’17 captured first place in the video resume competition, and a team of five students competed in a case challenge provided by the Atlantic Coast Conference.
