Three Elon University alumni have been named recipients of Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarships to help fund graduate studies overseas. Their recent selection brings to six the number of Elon students or alumni chosen for the prestigious award since 2006.

How does one man serve as a voice for minority populations in a nation where it can be difficult for immigrants to feel welcome? And how do his lessons from France resonate for cultures around the globe? Sophie Adamson, an assistant professor of French, explores those questions in her first published book, Ethics, Politics and Poetics in Tahar Ben Jelloun’s Harrouda, La Réclusion solitaire and L’Ange aveugle.

Glenda Crawford, professor of education, and April Post, lecturer in foreign languages, presented a paper at the 9th International Research Conference on Service-Learning and Community Engagement, which was held Oct. 9-12, 2009, in Ottawa, Canada.

David Neville, assistant professor of German and director of language learning technologies, published "Cybertext redux: Using DGBL to teach L2 vocabulary, reading and culture," which will appear in the forthcoming issue of Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL).
