The National Science Foundation has awarded Elon University chemistry professor Joel Karty a three-year, $181,000 research grant to work with undergraduates assisting him in his ongoing study of two types of molecular phenomena that govern chemical stability.

Julius Chambers, whose work as a civil rights attorney made school desegregation a reality in Charlotte and many other cities, told prospective law students that the poor and uneducated need advocates to fight on their behalf. Chambers' remarks came during the first Diversity Day at Elon University School of Law on Feb. 9.

Two Elon University students had their original screenplays selected to be produced and filmed as part of the nationwide Sprite Refreshing Films™ contest, a program "that gives future moviemakers a chance to create real films with industry pros and celebrities."
