Elon University senior Anthony Rizzuto has been named the recipient of a 2010 Eastern Analytical Symposium Student Research Award, a highly competitive national prize in the chemistry field given each year to six undergraduate researchers.
Colonnades literary magazine wins national Pacemaker Award

Colonnades, Elon University's literary magazine, received a 2010 national Magazine Pacemaker Award from the Associated Collegiate Press over the weekend at the organization's joint conference with College Media Advisers in Louisville. The Pacemaker is the highest honor ACP gives to its members.

Most North Carolinians know that Raleigh is their capital city and that Beverly Perdue is their governor, but according to the latest Elon University Poll, fewer than 1 in 5 state residents can correctly name Roy Cooper as their state attorney general, and barely a third could correctly identify both sitting United States senators.
Lumen Scholar studies church reactions to slavery

Churches have always split on doctrinal or political grounds, and prior to the Civil War, that wedge issue, more often than not, was slavery. Elon University senior Amber Woods explored how early churches in Kentucky responded to debates over emancipation, and her undergraduate research is the latest to be featured in a series of E-net profiles on Lumen Scholars in the Class of 2011.

Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine has ranked Elon among the nation’s top 50 best values in private higher education and the #9 university in lowest total costs, a distinction published in the magazine’s December edition. The 2010-11 ranking is the fifth consecutive top-50 placement of Elon by Kiplinger’s.
David Copeland receives highest honor in field of American journalism history

David Copeland, A.J. Fletcher Professor in the School of Communications, received the Sidney Kobre Award for Lifetime Achievement in Journalism History from the American Journalism Historians Association during the organization's annual convention in Tucson, Ariz.

Elon students win national business ethics competition

Elon University senior Charley Costa and junior Stephen Azar won top honors last week in the 2010 Eller Ethics Case Competition, a prestigious national contest hosted by the University of Arizona and featuring many of the top-ranked undergraduate business schools in North America. It is the second time in as many years that Elon students took first place in the competition.
Trustees launch largest fundraising campaign in Elon University history

Elon University has launched the public phase of the largest fundraising campaign in the school’s history. The Board of Trustees voted Oct. 10 to set a goal of raising $100 million by 2011 through Ever Elon: The Campaign for the Future of Our University.
