Kia Barrett, Alisha Harris, Timisha Henley and Cynthia Hernandez from Elon Law's Class of 2020 will work this summer in top legal placements through the North Carolina Bar Association's Minorities in the Profession 1L Summer Associate Program.

The stand-up comic, who recently garnered attention with the premiere of his Comedy Central special "Giggle Fit," will perform in Alumni Gym at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10. 

An April 1 dinner and ceremony included an address by Paula Stephan, a professor of economics at Georgia Southern University who is a Phi Beta Kappa visiting scholar. 

A professor of economics at Georgia State University and a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, Stephan will speak at 5 p.m. in LaRose Digital Theatre in the Koury Business Center through the Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholar Program. 

Among medium-sized colleges and universities, Elon ranked No. 18 for the number of Peace Corps volunteers it produced in 2018.

Tanisha Gupta and Max Pivonka are among the 100 students celebrated in Poets & Quants’ fourth annual “Best & Brightest” from the Class of 2019 list.

Proceeds from the gift will fund life-changing scholarships that serve students with high financial need in Elon’s Odyssey Program. These scholarships are among the top priorities of the upcoming Elon LEADS Campaign, the largest fundraising campaign in the university’s history.

Carroll, an assistant professor of anthropology, will work with other members of her cohort in the program to develop new courses focused around civil engagement and social responsibility.

Hightower, the first black full-time student at Elon, will receive the honorary degree during the university’s Spring Convocation on Thursday, April 4, in Alumni Gym.

The survey also found that if the election was held now, the Democratic presidential nominee has a better shot at winning North Carolina than President Donald Trump.
