Elon will modify the normal calendar for fall semester 2020. The goal is to reduce travel to and from campus and avoid bringing large crowds for major events, lowering the chance of exposing the campus community to outside sources of viral infection.

Residence Hall Move-in (tentative)

Elon will expand first-year student move-in to two days, reducing congestion and supporting physical distancing in residence halls. First-year students learned on July 1 their assigned move-in appointment times for August 14-15. Students should limit the number of family members who help them move-in to a maximum of two. Returning students will learn by July 10 their assigned move-in times for August 17-18.

Fall Semester (undergraduate)

Beginning of Semester

Faculty/Staff Planning Week sessions are scheduled for Aug. 12, 13 and 17. Fall semester undergraduate classes will start on August 19.

Fall Break

Traditional Fall Break will consist of two days: October 7 and November 3 (Election Day). Classes will not be held on those two days, but the university will remain open. The normal Fall Break staff holiday will be moved to Thursday, December 31.

Family Weekend and Homecoming

The traditional Family Weekend and Homecoming & Reunion events will not be held on campus and will instead be reimagined using virtual technologies for parents and alumni.

End of Semester & Exams

In-person instruction will end prior to Thanksgiving, with the last class day on Monday, November 23, and Tuesday, November 24, serving as Reading Day. Final exam period begins remotely on Monday, November 30 and semester ends Friday, December 4.
