Primary Signature

Clearspace Requirements

The area around all Elon signatures and wordmarks must be free of any other text or graphic elements. Use 1/2 the height of the captial “E” in ELON to measure the required clear space.
The Elon University signatures are a combination of the Elon wordmark with a unique shield adopted in 2016. The maroon-and-gold shield includes a stylized flame-leaf icon. Half of the flame-leaf is made up of the shape of an oak leaf, symbolizing the connection to the university’s name; Elon is the Hebrew word for oak, and the college was founded in a grove of stately oak trees in 1889. The other half of the icon is made up of flames, symbolizing the historic fire that destroyed Elon’s main building in 1923. The college rose from the ashes of that fire to become today’s thriving institution, providing the inspiration for the athletics mascot, the Phoenix. The flame-leaf evokes a spirit of personal growth and transformation, which is the hallmark of an Elon education.

This package includes all versions of the signature in the most common formats. This download is recommended if you will be using multiple versions of the signature and would like the complete library as one download. Specific versions of the signature can be downloaded below.
Signatures are first distinguished as being "primary" and "secondary," which indicates if the wordmark includes the word "University." In addition, there are centered versions of both primary and secondary marks, and each of those versions comes in multiple color variations.
Not sure which file type you need? Visit our Tips & Best Practices page for guidance on choosing the right format for your project.
Secondary signatures are simplified versions of Elon’s primary signature that remove the word “University.” These marks are intended for very limited, internal use only. They are not available for download, and any request to use a secondary signature must be coordinated directly with the Office of University Communications at brand@elon.edu.
