Vanessa Bravo publishes article in journal Palabra Clave
Vanessa Bravo, an assistant professor in the School of Communications, recently co-authored an article about the transnational public relations crisis suffered by Chiquita Brands for the journal Palabra Clave.
The crisis is classified as transnational because, even though it started in Colombia, it had repercussions internationally that led to Chiquita Brands paying a more than $1 million fine in the United States.
The research project, which analyzes the differences in the media coverage of the crisis in Colombia and the United States, as well as the public relations strategies used by Chiquita, was a team effort of four researchers, who also include Andres Felipe Giraldo and Luis Horacio Botero, from the Universidad de Medellin in Colombia, and Juan Carlos Molleda, from the University of Florida.
Palabra Clave, printed by the Universidad de La Sabana (in Colombia), is devoted to topics about strategic communications.
Bravo joined the School of Communications in the Fall of 2011, and she teaches public relations courses. She recently obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Florida.
