Interfaith prayer service honors tornado victims

The service allowed for people to grieve the recent loss of life in Oklahoma.

About a dozen people gathered in the Numen Lumen Pavilion on May 21 for an interfaith prayer service remembering those affected by a May 20 tornado in Oklahoma.

Campus spiritual leaders led a small remembrance ceremony on May 21 to show solidarity with the communities devastated by a tornado that tore through central Oklahoma one day earlier.

About a dozen faculty and staff gathered in the Sacred Space of the Numen Lumen Pavilion to pray and reflect on the loss of two dozen people, many of them children in an elementary school that stood in the storm’s path.

The short afternoon program featured candle lighting and remarks from staff of the Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life.
