Excellent Research Opportunities Research is a fundamental part of Elon’s Economics curriculum. After gaining hands-on experience through individual and team projects, Economics majors are encouraged to showcase their findings at Elon’s annual Student Undergraduate Research Forum (SURF). Recent SURF presentations include:
“Inflation Targeting in Central and Eastern Europe” “The Organizational Response to Diminishing Returns in Baseball” “All Men Created Unequal: Income Inequality in the U.S.” “Maternal Employment and Scholastic Achievement” “Poland and the European Union: Who Voted to Join.” Students in economics also edit and publish Issues in Political Economy. This is the oldest continually published undergraduate research journal in economics in the US. In addition to publishing original research, students also have the opportunity to make presentations at the Eastern Economics Association's annual conference. |
