Elon’s undergraduate finance program is in the CFA Institute’s University Recognition Program, an international benchmark awarded to fewer than 150 schools worldwide. Elon is also a member of the Society of Financial Service Professionals’ University Partner Program.


The Department of Finance at Elon benefits greatly from the William Garrard Reed Finance Center, an in-house, state-of-the-art finance research lab. Through hands-on experience in the Reed Center, you will learn about financial markets, financial analysis and financial decision-making using the latest information technology and software programs, including WRDS, Morningstar Direct and FactSet.

A select group of Love School of Business students participate annually in the CFA Institute Research Challenge, a global competition focused on financial analysis.

The Department of Finance sponsors up to five Love School of Business students each academic year for CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) scholarships. The CFA charter is the designation of excellence in the investment community.

Join Elon’s chapter of the Financial Management Association International, a world-wide organization of finance academicians and professionals. Elon's chapter focuses on identifying and pursuing career paths and opportunities, while developing meaningful relationships in industry.


Finance majors are required to complete at least one internship for academic credit. Examples of internships students have completed include financial analysis for Alvarez and Marsal, research for Booz Allen Hamilton, operations analysis for Credit Suisse, credit risk management for Valley National Bank, portfolio operations for Harding Loevner LP and finance technology for Discovery Capital Management.
