Confidentiality statement

Disabilities Services regards all information regards all information regarding a student's disability as confidential. This includes all notes, documentation, and electronic and paper correspondence. There is no permanent record kept regarding an individual's status as a student with a disability; all disability-related files are destroyed five years after the last date of enrollment at Elon. All disability-related records are stored in secure files in Academic Support. Only the Disabilities Services coordinator and members of the Academic Support staff working directly with students with disabilities have access to these files.

Information related to a student's disability is released to Elon's faculty and staff members on a need-to-know basis; students registered with this office acknowledge that some level of disclosure may be necessary to provide appropriate accommodations.

Read information about the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA).
