Representatives from the Office of Human Resources will begin benefits orientation for all new full-time faculty members. Benefit enrollment forms will be given and discussed at this time. New faculty members who have not submitted the required documents (social security card, driver’s license, deposit slip, voided check, etc.) or have not completed the new hire paperwork packet should bring the aforementioned documents to this meeting. Your passport will satisfy the I-9 form; however, the social security card is needed for payroll purposes.
NOTE: Previous Elon adjuncts who are now full time should also attend this session.

In inclusive classrooms, all students feel challenged to learn and explore course material, readily participate in class, and view themselves as people who belong in this community of learners. During our lunch discussion, we will explore practical ways faculty can support deep student learning and engagement in an inclusive environment. This session is appropriate for all faculty. Together we will consider both the common and distinct characteristics of inclusive classrooms in different disciplines and in various types of courses.

This workshop will kick-off our chair development opportunities for 2012-2013. This session will overview the new bias and discrimination policies and procedures with a focus on the role and responsibilities department chairs have in those procedures.
Intended Audience: This workshop is for all new and continuing department chairs, including associate chairs and individuals who will be interim chairs during the 2012-2013 academic year.

Discussion will center on updated Elon policies and procedures for student organizations and how you can help your leaders traverse the system.
