Assistant Professor of Biology Jen Hamel gave an invited seminar to faculty members and students at UNC-Asheville, as part of the UNC-Asheville Biology Department seminar series on Thursday, March 22.
Hamel’s talk addressed what her Elon research group has learned about the causes and consequences of hybridization between two closely-related insect species in the southeastern US. The presentation included research done by Hamel with small summer cohorts of Elon students, and featured work by Emma Eskeland ’17 (Biology), Tyler Lehmann ’16 (Environmental Studies), Paige Stover ’16 (Biology), Bea Balajonda ’17 (Biology), Neil Clark ’18 (Environmental Studies), Warren Grunvald ’17 (Biology), and Lauren Miller ’17 (Biology).
The seminar was titled, “Causes and consequences of reproductive interference between two closely-related insect species.”
