The April 11 event featured a panel of three Elon grads who shared their career experiences and professional advice with a group of Elon alumni, families and friends in the Triangle.
The Triangle Alumni Chapter hosted a professional development event on April 11 at HQ Capital Club in Raleigh that included a panel of three Elon alumni who have found success in their respective career industries in recent years.
Several alumni chapters host professional development events anually to provide learning and networking opportunities for the region's alumni. The Triangle chapter's alumni panel included Ryan Vet '13, Kate Catlin Payne '06 and Marybeth Caulfield '91. The panelists shared advice, stories and experiences as working professionals in the Triangle.
Vet currently serves as the chief executive officer of Boon, Inc., a start-up in stealth mode that is launching in late 2019, and is a co-owner of The Oak House. Payne is vice president of communications at the North Carolina Chamber and strives to elevate the profiles and priorities of individual businesses. Caulfield, who once worked as an admissions counselor for what was then Elon College, is now senior manager for global and university recruiting at Lenovo, a Fortune 500 global technology company.
The conversation was guided by questions from a moderator regarding Elon experiences and professional backgrounds, and was followed by a question-and-answer session. Reflecting on the event, Vet stated, "It is always a wonderful privilege to speak with fellow Elon alumni at professional development events. Whether meeting for the first time or reconnecting with old friends, the Elon community always feels like a family. It is an honor to have the opportunity to share at events like this."
