George and Carole Troxler honored for contributions to N.C. history

The North Carolina Literary and Historical Association and the Federation of North Carolina Historical Societies have honored two Elon University faculty members with the Christopher Crittenden Memorial for lifetime contributions to the advancement of North Carolina history.

George and Carole Troxler, professors emeriti of history, were honored Nov. 12 at the Sheraton Raleigh Hotel during the organizations’ 110th annual joint meeting.

The Christopher Crittenden Memorial Award is conferred annually upon a person, organization, institution, corporate body, or group of same, engaged in the study, writing, teaching, publication, preservation, restoration, or dissemination of knowledge pertaining to North Carolina history.
