Elon Law alumni named among '40 Leaders Under 40'

The Hon. Carrie Vickery L'09 and Adam Arthur L'10 are being honored by the Triad Business Journal for their professional achievements, leadership and community involvement in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina.

The Triad Business Journal is honoring two Elon Law alumni on its 2018 “40 Leaders Under 40” list that recognizes young professionals "leaving an indelible mark not just in their workplaces but across the region."

The Hon. Carrie F. Vickery L'09, a North Carolina District Court judge in Winston-Salem, and Adam Arthur L'10, an accomplished family law attorney in Greensboro, will be among those celebrated at a Feb. 15 awards ceremony and reception in Greensboro hosted by the Triad Business Journal.

Tickets for the awards program at UNC-Greensboro's Elliott University Center can be purchased online.

The Hon. Carrie F. Vickery
Judge, North Carolina District Court

Carrie Vickery L’09 was elected in 2016 to serve Winston-Salem and surrounding communities as a North Carolina District Court judge. She is the first Elon Law alum to be elected or appointed judge at the district court or higher.

Vickery earned a degree in political science from Western Carolina University, enrolled in Elon Law’s charter class at the age of 19, and graduated three years later with a job offer in private practice in Winston-Salem. As an attorney with Holton Law Firm, she quickly rose to regional prominence through community work and service to civic and professional organizations such as the bar association and the Junior League.

Vickery made statewide news in 2013 when she donated a kidney to a fellow Winston-Salem attorney whose health was in steep decline. Both recovered from the procedure and remain close to this day.

Adam Arthur
Attorney, Kirkman Attorneys at Law

Adam Arthur L'10 has distinguished himself as a family law attorney in Greensboro and recently earned statewide attention for securing a $100 million judgment on behalf of the estate of a murder victim from High Point, North Carolina, an award believed to be the largest of its kind in Guilford County.

Recognition from the Triad Business Journal follows his prior selection to Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite list, as well as North Carolina’s Super Lawyers’ Magazine.

The graduate of UNC Chapel Hill has been active in professional and communities activities through local and state bar associations, having previously served on the Local Rules Committee of the Guilford County District Court and, currently, as state co-chair of the North Carolina Bar Association’s 4All Statewide Phone-In Day of Service.
