American playwright Lillian Hellman established herself in what had been primarily a man’s business when this, her first play, opened on Broadway in 1934. In The Children’s Hour, a disaffected student in an elite, all-girls school spreads a rumor that her two young, female teachers are secretly lovers. How will – how should – local society respond? What is the destructive power of her lie? Or is it a lie? Children wrestle with adult topics and adults behave like children in this intriguing drama.

Admission: $12 or Elon ID. Reservations are highly recommended and will be taken beginning September 26 by calling (336) 278-5650.
