'Startup Weekend' welcomes entrepreneurs to Elon

Students and faculty with the Doherty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership are sponsoring Startup Weekend Triad from Nov. 22-24 in the Lakeside Meeting Room.

The Doherty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership at Elon University is hosting “Startup Weekend Triad” from Nov. 22-24 for ambitious entrepreneurs to take action, and, by forming teams and working together, make significant progress toward launching a successful enterprise.

The weekend allows participants to pitch ideas for different products and collaborate in teams. At the end of the event, the teams show their prototypes and receive feedback from a panel of experts.

Startup Weekend is a global organization dedicated to promoting entrepreneurship in communities by facilitating hundreds of weekend-long events around the world.

The event is open anyone with a registration fee of $100. Students, using the promo code ‘STUDENT,’ are able to attend the weekend at a discounted rate of $50. All meals and a free T-shirt are provided to registered participants.

The program takes place in the Lakeside Meeting Rooms of the university’s Lakeside Dining Hall.

The Doherty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership focuses on experiential education, teaching entrepreneurial thinking and preparing students for success as entrepreneurs. It offers scholarships for students interested in entrepreneurship, sponsors a speaker series, and awards the Elon University Medal for Entrepreneurial Leadership annually to a business leader who epitomizes the values of Elon University.
